A hot air balloon over the Masai Mara as the sun rises. Sundowners on the plains. Then five nights at Zuri Zanzibar — white sand, warm Indian Ocean, and absolute privacy. Two chapters. One honeymoon you’ll never stop talking about.
This honeymoon is built around a simple idea: Africa does two things better than anywhere else on earth — wildlife and beaches — and a honeymoon should have both. The first chapter is Kenya: the Masai Mara for three nights (enough time to settle in, to stop looking for animals and start watching them), a balloon over the plains at dawn, the flamingos and rhinos of Lake Nakuru. The second chapter is Zanzibar: five nights at Zuri, one of the Indian Ocean’s most beautiful boutique resorts, on the white sands of Kendwa Beach.
The route is designed so you’re never moving more than once in the same stretch. You don’t want to be changing camps every night on your honeymoon — you want to arrive somewhere extraordinary, let it settle around you, and leave only when you’re ready. Three nights in the Mara gives you that. Five nights at Zuri gives you that. The Nakuru day is a beautiful scenic addition between the two — rhinos and flamingos and the Rift Valley escarpment — without adding exhaustion.
“We designed this as the honeymoon we’d want — not too much moving, not too many itinerary decisions. Just two extraordinary places and time to actually be in them.”
— Gerald Omondi, Safari Travel PlusOne hour above the Mara at dawn — absolute silence, the entire reserve below you. Ends with a champagne breakfast laid out on the plains. One of the great travel experiences, anywhere.
40 cottages on Kendwa Beach, north-west Zanzibar. Genuinely boutique, genuinely private. Turquoise water, extraordinary sunsets over the Indian Ocean, and a spa that earns its reputation.
Your safari vehicle, your guide, your pace. No shared vehicles, no group tours, no strangers at your table. The Nairobi arrival, all Kenya game drives and transfers are exclusively for you.
Scheduled flight from Nairobi to Zanzibar International Airport on Day 6 — approximately 2 hours. We handle the booking as part of the package or advise on the best connection to your international flights.
Arrival · Nairobi Serena Hotel · Welcome Dinner
Your honeymoon begins at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where your private driver meets you and transfers you to the Nairobi Serena Hotel — one of Nairobi’s finest addresses, set in lush gardens in the heart of the city. Check in, unwind after the flight, and let the city begin to work its particular magic: the equatorial warmth, the scent of jacaranda, the low hum of Africa beginning outside your window. Tonight is for settling in, a quiet dinner, and the slow realisation that the next twelve days are entirely your own.
Tonight’s lodge: Nairobi Serena Hotel
Scenic Drive · Great Rift Valley · Game Drive
After a leisurely breakfast, your driver-guide collects you for the drive west. The city gives way to the highlands, and then — at the edge of the Great Rift Valley — the world simply opens. It’s one of Kenya’s great moments: standing at the escarpment looking out over a geological scar that runs 6,000km through the continent. Then down into the valley and on through the wheat-gold Mara highlands until the reserve opens around you. Lunch at Mara Sopa Lodge, set among rocky outcrops with views across the plains. Your first game drive in the late afternoon — the light at this hour is the kind that makes photographers weep, and the Mara in that golden hour is unforgettable. Return to the lodge for dinner. You’re here. Let it begin.

Balloon Safari · Bush Breakfast · Photography · Honeymoon Highlight
Wake before dawn. This is the morning you came for. Your guide collects you by torchlight and transfers you to the launch site — the crew is already there, the balloon glowing in the dark as it fills. As the first light touches the horizon you lift off above the Mara. For one hour you float in perfect silence: the Mara River below you, hippos in the pools, giraffe crossing the open plains, and if you’re here in season, the wildebeest migration as far as you can see. When you land — wherever the wind takes you — a champagne breakfast is laid out on the plains. Just the two of you, your guide, a table in the middle of Africa, and the whole morning still ahead. Afternoon game drive, sundowners at a scenic viewpoint as the sun drops behind the escarpment, dinner under the stars.
Tonight’s lodge: Mara Sopa Lodge, Masai Mara
Game Drive · Big Five · Photography · Sundowners
A full day with nowhere to be but here. Dawn game drive as the light turns the grass gold. Return for a long, unhurried breakfast. The afternoon is yours — another drive, time at the lodge, or simply sitting on your veranda watching the plains. The Mara’s resident wildlife means something is always happening: a cheetah on the termite mound, lion cubs at a kill, a herd of elephant moving through the tree line in single file. In the evening, traditional sundowners at a spot with the kind of view that makes everything else feel very far away. Dinner at the lodge. Tomorrow you move north — but tonight, you’re still in the Mara.

Scenic Drive · Lake Nakuru · Rhino · Flamingos
Drive north-east through the Mara highlands to Lake Nakuru National Park — Kenya’s premier rhino sanctuary and one of the Rift Valley’s most beautiful parks. This is a day of contrast: where the Mara is open golden savannah, Nakuru is intimate, enclosed, a soda lake ringed by yellow fever trees with the escarpment rising behind it. Both black and white rhino are resident and relatively approachable. Rothschild’s giraffe move through the forest margins. When water levels suit, flamingos gather on the lake shore in extraordinary numbers — pink against the alkaline white. Afternoon game drive, dinner at Sarova Lion Hill with the park lit by the last of the light.
Tonight’s lodge: Sarova Lion Hill, Lake Nakuru
Morning Drive · Fly to Zanzibar · Beach Arrival
One last morning drive at Lake Nakuru — an hour in the vehicle before breakfast, the rhinos and the giraffe and the still water of the lake. Then the drive back to Nairobi, a scheduled flight south to Zanzibar, and the moment the aircraft door opens and the warm, spice-scented Indian Ocean air comes in. Transfer to Zuri Zanzibar on Kendwa Beach. Check in, walk to the water, and feel everything slow down. Tonight is the first night of Chapter Two. Dinner at the resort as the Indian Ocean comes and goes on the sand outside.
Tonight’s lodge: Zuri Zanzibar, Kendwa Beach (arriving)
Days 7–11 · Beach · Indian Ocean · Snorkelling · Stone Town · Dhow Cruise
Five days without an alarm clock. Zuri Zanzibar sits on Kendwa Beach on the north-west coast — one of the island’s most beautiful stretches of sand, with calm turquoise water and spectacular sunsets over the Indian Ocean. The resort is boutique (40 cottages), genuinely romantic, and designed around the idea that a beach holiday should involve doing very little, very well. There is no programme here. Breakfast whenever you wake. Mornings in the water or on the sand. Afternoons in the spa or under a palm with a book.
Optional excursions that can be organised through the resort: a dhow sunset cruise on the Indian Ocean; snorkelling on the coral reefs; a half-day in Stone Town — the old Arab trading quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, all carved wooden doors and narrow spice-scented lanes. Evenings: sundowners on the beach as the sun sets over the water, dinner at the resort’s restaurant with the ocean visible from your table. Five days is the right amount of time. You’ll arrive frantic and leave slow.
Your resort (5 nights): Zuri Zanzibar, Kendwa Beach — Days 7 to 11
Beach · Final Breakfast · Departure
No alarm. A final morning on the beach — a swim, a slow breakfast, one more walk along the sand. Then the transfer to Zanzibar airport for your flight back to Nairobi and your onward international connection. You leave with sea salt still in your hair and the Mara still in your eyes.
5-Star City Hotel
The Nairobi Serena is one of the city’s finest addresses — a landmark hotel set in lush tropical gardens, with elegant rooms, excellent dining and the kind of calm that’s exactly right after a long international flight. It’s a graceful beginning to a honeymoon: warm, beautiful and unmistakably African in atmosphere. Your arrival night is taken care of.
Safari Lodge
Mara Sopa Lodge is set among dramatic rocky outcrops in the heart of the Masai Mara — close enough to the action that game can be seen from the property itself. Three nights here gives you time to settle in, to find your rhythm with the reserve, and to be in the Mara at dawn and dusk without rushing. The lodge has a warm, unhurried atmosphere well-suited to a honeymoon that’s meant to slow down.
National Park Lodge
Sarova Lion Hill sits on a hill inside Lake Nakuru National Park, with sweeping views across the soda lake and the Rift Valley escarpment beyond. It’s a beautiful, dramatic one-night stop between the Mara and Zanzibar — the rhinos, flamingos and giraffe of Nakuru are unlike anything you’ve seen in the Mara, and the escarpment views at sunset are extraordinary.
Luxury Beach Resort
Zuri Zanzibar is a boutique luxury resort on Kendwa Beach — one of the north-west coast’s most beautiful stretches of sand, known for calm water and legendary Indian Ocean sunsets. With 40 cottages set among tropical gardens, Zuri has the feel of a private sanctuary rather than a resort. It’s genuinely romantic: the design, the service, the beach, the light. Five nights here is the second chapter your honeymoon deserves.
The Kenya safari chapter of your honeymoon takes place in a custom-fitted private Toyota Land Cruiser — just the two of you and your guide. Full pop-up roof, cool box, charging points and everything you need for long, unhurried days in the reserve. No other guests, no compromises on timing. The vehicle is yours for the entire Kenya leg.
Exterior — Custom Toyota Land Cruiser
Interior — Leather seats & cool box
On safari — Masai Mara
Full Pop-Up Roof
The entire roof lifts open for unobstructed 360° wildlife viewing and photography. A game drive is experienced standing, not craning through a window. Closes in seconds when it rains.
Private — Just the Two of You
On a honeymoon the vehicle is exclusively yours. No strangers, no compromises on pacing, no waiting for others. You set the rhythm of every drive — when to go, where to stop, when to stay.
Cool Box & Water Supply
Chilled drinking water available throughout every drive. The on-board cool box holds water, snacks and cold towels for midday comfort during full-day Mara drives.
USB & 12V Charging
Multiple USB-A, USB-C and 12V socket charging points throughout the vehicle — keep cameras, phones and devices charged across every full-day drive.
First Aid Kit On Board
Every vehicle carries a comprehensive first aid kit and your guide holds a current first aid certificate. Emergency numbers are pre-saved and the guide briefs you at the start of the safari.
4-Wheel Drive Throughout
Genuine 4×4 traction is essential in the Mara — especially after rain. The Land Cruiser handles rutted tracks, river crossings and off-road terrain that no minivan could navigate.
Ideal for Honeymoon Photography
The pop-up roof gives both of you unobstructed angles without compromise. With no other passengers competing for position, you can take your time with every shot.
Genuine 4×4 traction is essential in the Mara — especially after rain. The Land Cruiser handles rutted tracks, river crossings and off-road terrain that no minivan could navigate.
This vehicle is never shared. On a honeymoon that matters: you choose when to stop, when to stay at a sighting, when to go back for breakfast. The guide works entirely around you.
Every vehicle undergoes a full mechanical inspection before each safari departs. We carry a spare tyre, tow rope and basic repair kit as standard. In 15 years we have never abandoned a client on the road.
This is a premium 12-day honeymoon combining luxury safari and Indian Ocean beach. Pricing varies by travel dates, seasonal rates at each property, and international flight costs. We’ll prepare a detailed, no-obligation quote for your exact dates — including the Kenya safari, all internal flights and five nights at Zuri Zanzibar.
Package priced for two. Fully customisable — we can upgrade any property, adjust the length of each chapter, or add a Nairobi Giraffe Centre visit on Day 1.
If you want wildlife and beach — and don’t want to choose between them — yes. The Kenya chapter gives you the Masai Mara experience properly (three nights, not a rushed visit) plus the balloon, and the Zanzibar chapter gives you five full days on one of the Indian Ocean’s most beautiful beaches. It’s a honeymoon with two completely different moods, and that contrast is part of what makes it work.
Yes. One hot air balloon safari in the Masai Mara is included — approximately one hour at dawn followed by a champagne breakfast on the plains. It is one of the great honeymoon experiences in Africa and we’ve built it into the package deliberately.
Zuri is a boutique luxury resort on Kendwa Beach on Zanzibar’s north-west coast — 40 cottages, genuinely romantic design, excellent food and one of the best beaches on the island. It’s known for its sunsets and its unhurried atmosphere. We chose it because it feels like a private retreat rather than a resort, which is exactly what a honeymoon beach chapter should feel like.
Absolutely. We can upgrade accommodation (luxury tented camps in the Mara, different beach resort in Zanzibar), adjust the length of each chapter, add a night in Nairobi, include optional Zanzibar excursions, or extend to 14 days. This package is a starting point — tell us what you want and we’ll build around it.
By scheduled flight. The route is typically Nairobi’s Wilson Airport or JKIA to Julius Nyerere International (Dar es Salaam) with a connection to Zanzibar, or a direct service depending on scheduling. We handle all flight bookings and transfers as part of the package.
The beach and the ocean are the main events — swimming, snorkelling on the coral reefs, dhow sunset cruises, kayaking. Stone Town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) is an extraordinary half-day: carved wooden doors, Arabic architecture, spice markets and the memory of centuries of Indian Ocean trade. Optional excursions can be arranged through Zuri or via us.
Kenya is year-round. July to October brings the Great Migration to the Masai Mara — the most dramatic wildlife spectacle — though the Mara is excellent in all seasons. For Zanzibar, the best beach weather is June to October and January to February (dry, sunny, calm seas). December and March to May can bring rain. We’ll advise the best timing for your preferred dates.
Yes — we’ve designed it as a honeymoon itinerary from the start. Three nights in one lodge (not moving every night), the balloon as a dedicated romantic experience, and five nights at a boutique resort rather than a large hotel. The pace is deliberately unhurried.
For Kenya, most nationalities require an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) applied for online before travel. For Zanzibar (Tanzania), most nationalities receive a visa on arrival or can apply online. We advise on your specific nationality requirements at booking.
For the Kenya safari: light neutral layers (khaki, olive), a warm fleece for balloon and dawn drives, sun hat, sunscreen, camera. For Zanzibar: light summer clothing, swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen, a cover-up for Stone Town visits. Both chapters have laundry facilities.
Tell us your dates and we’ll design the perfect honeymoon around them — two extraordinary chapters, no compromises, nothing left to chance.
