Four of Kenya's greatest wildlife parks — the Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Amboseli and Tsavo West — followed by three days on the Indian Ocean coast at Mombasa. This is Kenya done properly, from savannah to sea.
11 Days · 4 Parks · Masai Mara · Lake Nakuru · Amboseli · Tsavo West · Mombasa Beach
Most Kenya safaris choose between parks. This one doesn't have to. Eleven days gives you enough time to experience four completely different ecosystems — the open golden plains of the Masai Mara, the flamingo-pink shores of Lake Nakuru, the elephant-rich dust flats of Amboseli with Kilimanjaro above them, and the dramatic volcanic landscape of Tsavo West where the 'red elephants' roam. Each park is distinct. Each one would justify a trip on its own. Together they give you a complete picture of what Kenya's wildlife actually is.
Then on Day 7 you drive east to the coast and everything changes. The dust and the game drives give way to the warm Indian Ocean, white sand, and three days at Voyager Beach Resort in Mombasa with nothing required of you. It's the contrast that makes this itinerary work — the intensity of the safari, then the total decompression of the beach. You finish the trip rested, which is rare on an 11-day itinerary.
"The safari-beach combination is Kenya's best-kept secret. You see four parks properly, then you go to the coast and you actually relax. Most people wish they'd done it sooner."
— Gerald Omondi, Safari Travel PlusMasai Mara — Big Five & Migration
Kenya's most iconic park. Open golden savannah, resident lion prides, leopard, cheetah and elephant. July–Oct: Great Migration with Mara River crossings.
Lake Nakuru — Rhinos & Flamingos
Kenya's premier rhino sanctuary. Soda lake ringed by yellow fever trees, Rothschild's giraffe, flamingos on the shoreline, Rift Valley escarpment views.
Amboseli — Elephants & Kilimanjaro
Africa's most approachable elephant herds against the backdrop of Kilimanjaro. The photograph Kenya is famous for — elephants, mountain, morning light.
Tsavo West — Volcanic Wilderness
Kenya's most dramatic landscape: dark lava flows, rocky hills, 'red elephants', Mzima Springs. Kilaguni Lodge's waterhole draws wildlife day and night.
Scenic Drive · Great Rift Valley · Afternoon Game Drive
Picked up from your Nairobi hotel at 7am, you drive west through the city and into the highland farmland before the Great Rift Valley opens below you — one of Kenya's great viewpoints. Descend into the valley, cross the wheat fields of the Mara highlands and arrive at Mara Sopa Lodge by midday. After lunch, your first game drive on the Masai Mara's vast golden plains. The Mara never fails to impress immediately: within an hour you'll understand why this is considered one of Africa's great wildlife destinations. Return to the lodge for dinner.
Tonight's lodge: Mara Sopa Lodge, Masai Mara (arriving)
Dawn Game Drive · Full Day · Optional Balloon Safari
Wake before dawn for the sunrise drive — the Mara at first light is the Mara at its best, predators still active, the grass gold. Return for breakfast, then the day is yours. A second drive in the afternoon, or time at the lodge. The Mara's resident wildlife is extraordinary year-round: lion prides, leopard, cheetah, elephant, buffalo, giraffe and vast herds of plains game. July to October brings the Great Migration — over a million wildebeest and zebra, with Mara River crossings that make this one of Africa's great spectacles. An optional balloon safari can be arranged for this morning.
Tonight's lodge: Mara Sopa Lodge, Masai Mara
Scenic Drive · Lake Nakuru · Rhino · Flamingos
Drive north-east through the Mara highlands to Lake Nakuru National Park — a completely different Kenya. Where the Mara is vast open savannah, Nakuru is intimate: a soda lake ringed by yellow fever trees with the Rift Valley escarpment rising behind. Kenya's premier rhino sanctuary — both black and white rhino are present and relatively approachable. Rothschild's giraffe move through the forest. When water levels suit, flamingos gather on the shore in extraordinary numbers. Afternoon game drive, then dinner at Sarova Lion Hill with the escarpment glowing at sunset.
Tonight's lodge: Sarova Lion Hill, Lake Nakuru (arriving)
Scenic Drive · Amboseli · Elephants · Kilimanjaro
Drive south through Nairobi and continue to Amboseli National Park at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. Arrive at Kibo Safari Camp in time for lunch. The camp's name means Kilimanjaro in the local language — the mountain is its backdrop and the elephants are regular camp visitors. Afternoon game drive: Amboseli's elephant herds are some of the most approachable in Kenya, habituated and unafraid. The Kilimanjaro views, if the mountain is clear, stop you mid-sentence.
Tonight's lodge: Kibo Safari Camp, Amboseli (arriving)
Dawn Drive · Kilimanjaro Viewpoint · Afternoon Drive · Marsh at Dusk
Dawn drive to the Kilimanjaro viewing point — the mountain is clearest before the day's heat builds cloud around the summit. The classic photograph: a herd of large-tusked elephants moving across the dusty plain, Africa's highest mountain above them. Return for late breakfast. The afternoon at leisure, then out again at 4pm for the second drive — the marsh alive with over 400 bird species, lion hunting in the fading light, elephant silhouettes against the orange sky.
Tonight's lodge: Kibo Safari Camp, Amboseli
Scenic Drive · Tsavo West · Red Elephants · Kilaguni
Drive east to Tsavo West National Park — Kenya's least-visited major park and one of its most dramatic. The landscape shifts from Amboseli's dust to Tsavo's dark volcanic lava flows, rocky hills and dense bush. The 'red elephants' of Tsavo get their colour from the iron-rich soil they roll in. Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge sits on a natural spring — from the lodge's veranda you can watch elephant, buffalo and lion coming to drink without getting in a vehicle. Afternoon game drive in this underrated wilderness.
Tonight's lodge: Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge, Tsavo West (arriving)
Game Drive · Mzima Springs · Beach Arrival
One last morning game drive in Tsavo West — and a visit to Mzima Springs, where crystal-clear water bubbles up through volcanic rock into pools filled with hippo and crocodile. You can watch them from an underwater viewing chamber. Then drive east toward Mombasa, the landscape changing from scrubland to tropical, the air thickening with humidity and the scent of the ocean. Arrive at Voyager Beach Resort in time for lunch. Check in, walk to the beach, and feel everything slow down.
Tonight's lodge: Voyager Beach Resort, Mombasa (arriving)
Beach · Indian Ocean · Snorkelling · All Inclusive
Three full days without an agenda. Voyager Beach Resort sits on a beautiful stretch of Mombasa's north coast — white sand, warm turquoise water, the kind of beach that makes the previous week's game drives feel like a vivid dream. The resort is all inclusive: meals, drinks, water sports and activities included. Optional excursions available at extra cost: snorkelling on the coral reef, a dhow cruise, a cultural visit to Fort Jesus or the Old Town. Or nothing at all — a sun lounger, the ocean, and time.
Tonight's lodge: Voyager Beach Resort, Mombasa (nights 2 & 3)
Beach · Departure · Mombasa Airport
A final morning on the beach before transfer to Mombasa's Moi International Airport for your flight to Nairobi and onward international connection. Or, if timing allows, a direct international flight from Mombasa. You leave with salt in your hair, dust still in your memories, and a very clear idea of what Kenya actually is.
Mara Sopa Lodge sits among rocky outcrops in the heart of the Masai Mara, with views across the reserve. Two nights here gives you time to settle in and find the rhythms of the reserve — dawn drives at first light, afternoons watching the plains. The Mara's wildlife density means something is always happening.
Sarova Lion Hill sits on a hill inside Lake Nakuru National Park with views across the soda lake and the Rift Valley escarpment. As Kenya's premier rhino sanctuary, Nakuru offers some of the best rhino viewing in East Africa. The escarpment views at sunset are extraordinary.
Kibo Safari Camp sits at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro — the name means Kilimanjaro in the local language. Comfortable tented accommodation with a warm, unpretentious character. The elephant herds visit the camp area regularly and the Kilimanjaro views on clear mornings are the reason people come to Amboseli.
Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge sits on a natural spring in Tsavo West — one of Kenya's oldest safari lodges and still one of its most atmospheric. From the lodge's veranda you watch elephant, buffalo and lion coming to drink at the waterhole without needing a vehicle. The volcanic landscape of Tsavo West surrounds it.
Voyager Beach Resort sits on a beautiful stretch of Mombasa's north coast with white sand and warm Indian Ocean water. The resort is all inclusive — meals, drinks and a full range of water sports and activities included in the rate. After a week of game drives, three days here is exactly the right prescription.
Every game drive on this 11-day safari — across four very different parks — takes place in a custom-fitted Toyota Land Cruiser. Private throughout the entire safari leg, fitted with a full pop-up roof, cool box, charging points and comprehensive first aid kit. In Tsavo's dense bush and Amboseli's open plains alike, this is the vehicle you want.
Full Pop-Up Roof
The entire roof lifts open for unobstructed 360° wildlife viewing and photography. Essential across all four parks — from Mara lion at close range to Amboseli elephants against Kilimanjaro.
Comfortable Captain Seats
Firm, upright seating with individual armrests. Positioned for long game drives — across 7 days of safari you'll spend many hours in the vehicle and the seats are built for it.
USB & 12V Charging
Multiple USB-A, USB-C and 12V socket charging points — keep cameras, phones, and spare batteries charged across every game drive of the circuit.
Cool Box & Water Supply
Chilled drinking water available throughout every drive. Amboseli's midday heat and Tsavo's dry landscape make this non-negotiable on a multi-park circuit.
First Aid Kit On Board
Every vehicle carries a comprehensive first aid kit and your guide holds a current first aid certificate. Emergency contacts pre-saved and accessible throughout the safari.
100% Private — Always
This vehicle is never shared across the entire 7-day safari leg. No strangers, no compromises on timing. You set the pace of every drive, every stop, and every return to camp.
Genuine 4×4 traction across all terrain types — Mara's grasslands, Tsavo's lava tracks, Amboseli's dusty plains. The Land Cruiser goes where the wildlife is.
The Land Cruiser seats up to 6 with full pop-roof access. For couples or small groups, you'll have considerable space — ideal for keeping camera equipment accessible across a 7-day circuit.
Full mechanical inspection before departure. Spare tyre, tow rope and repair kit carried as standard. In 15 years we have never abandoned a client on the road.
Pricing for this 11-day safari and beach combination varies by travel dates, group size and seasonal rates across five properties. We'll prepare a detailed, no-obligation quote for your exact dates. The safari and beach legs can also be adjusted — shorter or longer, different parks, different beach resort.
Prices per person sharing. Solo supplement available. Optional balloon safari and Mombasa excursions can be added.
Most Kenya safaris cover two or three parks. This one covers four — each completely different in landscape and wildlife character — and then finishes on the Indian Ocean coast. It's Kenya done comprehensively: the Mara for Big Five and migration, Nakuru for rhinos and flamingos, Amboseli for elephants and Kilimanjaro, Tsavo West for volcanic drama. Then three days on the beach to decompress properly.
For this circuit, 11 days is the right length. You spend enough time in each park to settle in rather than rush, and three days at the beach means you actually rest rather than just stop briefly. Most people who do this itinerary say they'd add a day, not remove one.
The Great Migration is in the Masai Mara from approximately July to October. Outside those months the Mara has excellent year-round wildlife — lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant and buffalo are present in all seasons.
Tsavo West is dramatically different — volcanic lava flows, rocky hills, dense scrubby bush rather than open savannah. The 'red elephants' (they roll in the iron-rich soil) are unique to Tsavo. Kilaguni Lodge's natural waterhole means you see wildlife from the lodge itself. It's the most underrated park on this circuit and often the one guests remember most.
Voyager Beach Resort is on one of the better stretches of Mombasa's north coast. The Indian Ocean water is warm, calm and excellent for swimming. Snorkelling on the coral reef can be arranged. After a week of early morning game drives, three days here feels like the perfect reward.
Yes. We can adjust the length of time in each park, upgrade accommodation at any property, add a coastal extension in Diani instead of Mombasa, include a balloon safari in the Mara, or adjust the circuit entirely. Use Get a Custom Safari Quote to discuss.
Yes. All four parks are suitable for families with children. Amboseli is particularly family-friendly — the elephants are approachable and the open landscape makes viewing easy for children. The all-inclusive beach at Voyager is excellent for families.
Year-round. July to October is peak season (Great Migration in the Mara, peak wildlife viewing). January to March is an excellent quieter alternative with good visibility and fewer vehicles. December and April to May can bring rain but offer lower prices.
