This 5-day safari takes you from Nairobi to the world-famous Masai Mara, where you’ll enjoy thrilling game drives and the chance to witness the Big Five and seasonal Great Migration. Continue to Lake Nakuru, known for rhinos and flamingos, then on to the serene Lake Naivasha for optional boat rides among hippos and birdlife. The journey ends with an adventurous exploration of Hell’s Gate National Park before returning to Nairobi.
Your journey begins in Nairobi at 7:00 a.m., where you board your safari Land Cruiser and head west into the heart of the Rift Valley. The drive takes you past rolling hills, small towns, and the breathtaking Great Rift Valley escarpment, where you’ll pause for photos. By midday you’ll arrive at the world-famous Maasai Mara National Reserve, the land of endless savannahs. After lunch at camp, your first evening game drive awaits. As the sun dips low, the golden plains come alive with herds of zebra, wildebeest, giraffes, and, if you’re lucky, one of the Big Cats preparing for the hunt. Return to Rhino Tourist Camp for a warm dinner and overnight rest, ready for the adventures ahead.
Day 2: Maasai Mara – Full Day of Game Viewing
Wake to the sounds of nature before heading out for a full day in the Mara. With a packed lunch, you’ll spend the day exploring different corners of this vast reserve, tracking the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. The Mara is also home to the Great Migration (July–October), when millions of wildebeest and zebra cross the Mara River in search of greener pastures. Even outside migration season, the reserve is teeming with life—cheetahs lounging on termite mounds, elephants bathing in the Mara River, and hyenas scavenging the plains. As dusk approaches, return to camp for dinner and storytelling around the fire.
Day 3: Maasai Mara → Nakuru – Culture Meets Safari
After breakfast, you may choose to visit a Maasai village (optional, USD 30 per person). Here, warriors in traditional dress welcome you with song and dance, and you’ll learn about their customs, homesteads, and way of life. From the Mara, the safari continues toward Lake Nakuru National Park. You’ll drive through farmlands and the highlands of the Rift Valley, arriving in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Buraha Zenoni Hotel & Resort, where you can relax and prepare for the next day’s adventures.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru → Lake Naivasha – Flamingos & Serenity
Today begins with a morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its rhino sanctuary and flocks of flamingos painting the shoreline pink. Keep your eyes peeled for endangered Rothschild’s giraffes, pelicans, and elusive leopards in the acacia woodland. After lunch en route, you’ll continue to Lake Naivasha, a peaceful freshwater lake surrounded by greenery. In the afternoon, take an optional boat ride (USD 40 per person)—a chance to spot hippos wallowing in the water and an array of bird species, from fish eagles to kingfishers. Return to Chambai Safari Hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Hell’s Gate → Nairobi – The Final Adventure
Your final morning takes you to Hell’s Gate National Park, a unique landscape of towering cliffs, gorges, and geothermal steam vents. Unlike most parks in Kenya, Hell’s Gate allows you to explore on foot or even by bicycle—making it a thrilling, up-close experience. After the adventure, enjoy lunch on the way back and arrive in Nairobi by late afternoon, where your safari concludes with drop-off in the CBD.
