In a vehicle you see Africa. On foot, you smell it, hear it and feel it. The crunch of dry grass, the heat rising from red laterite, the silence broken only by a hornbill — walking connects you to the landscape in a way a game drive cannot.
Walking guides are trained trackers. They read the ground — a crushed leaf, a scrape in the soil, dung still warm — and build a picture of which animals passed, how recently and in which direction. It is humbling how much you miss from a vehicle.
Walking safaris require participants who can follow instructions immediately and walk for 2–3 hours. We require minimum age 12 for all walking activities and pre-departure briefings are thorough. Safety is paramount and armed rangers accompany all walks.
