The Amakhala Game Reserve was created as a joint conservation venture in 1999. The reserve is located in the malaria-free Eastern Cape and is less than 70 kilometres from Port Elizabeth.
Amakhala’s animal population includes cheetah, giraffe, zebra, and wildebeest. The absence of predators at Amakhala means that guests are able to explore some beautiful hiking paths through indigenous flora without having to watch their backpacks. The Bushman’s River cuts through the reserve in lazy zigzags, and makes river-boat game viewing a wonderful safari edition.
