Benguerra Lodge
Benguerra Lodge is sheltered by a natural acacia forest bordering Benguerra Bay with its coral reefs, turquoise seas and huge stretch of squeaky white beach. The lodge is situated on the protected north-west side of Benguerra Island, which was declared a national park in 1971.
Benguerra has been decorated in earthy, Moroccan colours with terracotta walls and thick fabrics in rich reds and vibrant oranges. The main lodge building has a gift shop, comfortable lounge area and small spa. Birds are attracted to the surrounding indigenous forest, which also provides some much-needed shade in the heat of the day.
Go scuba-diving and snorkelling on Two Mile Reef – Benguerra Lodge is a PADI dive resort and offers a wide range of diving courses, so you’ll soon be feeling quite at home in that crazy colourful world below the waves. If that all sounds a bit energetic, you could always just stretch out in the shade of your thatched sala on the beautiful beach.
One of the main attractions is world-class deep sea and saltwater fly fishing. Other activities worth mentioning include sea kayaking, island tours and boat trips to Pansy Island, a unique breeding ground for the legendary pansy shell.
Benguerra Lodge is known for great service; the Mozambique staff are warm, friendly, efficient, and speak very good English – all that’s left for you to do is to relax and enjoy your island holiday.
Benguerra Lodge is located on the second largest island in the Bazaruto Archipelago in Mozambique.
