Chelinda Lodge
Chelinda Lodge stands in the centre of Malawi’s wild and remote Nyika National Park which lies on a spectacular 2000m plateau.
Nyika’s high altitude grasslands and Afro-montane forests are a complete contrast to the low lying Lake Malawi area, and provide an entirely different experience to the rest of Malawi – and in fact to the rest of most of southern Africa.
Days at Chelinda can be spent on game drives and nature walks, where you’re likely to see large herds of roan antelope, eland and Crawshay’s zebra; while night drives offer a great opportunity to spot hyaena, serval cat and side-striped jackal. You can also explore the area by mountain bike or go fly-fishing for trout in the network of lakes close to the lodge.
The lodge is set against a pocket of forest with beautiful views over the grasslands. All the cabins are connected by wooden walkways, and the main building has a cosy dining area set around a fireplace, and a lounge which opens onto an outside deck – great for sundowners!
Chelinda Lodge is set high on the Nyika Plateau, in the heart of Nyika National Park – the largest of Malawi’s national parks.
