Kaya Mawa Lodge
Kaya Mawa Lodge is at the head of a crescent-shaped bay on Likoma Island, surrounded by mango trees and ancient baobabs. This remote island is home to a very small community, surrounded by the crystal-clear waters of Lake Malawi.
The main camp is located in a rocky outcrop, consisting of a bar, dining room and rock pool. Kaya Mawa has a number of stone, thatched cottages and 2 family beach villas, with a luxurious & romantic villa on its own private island. The camp was built entirely by hand, in partnership with the local community, and has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment.
The location is perfect for a holiday of total relaxation, and its remote location makes it ideal for romantics. Relax on one of the island’s stunning beaches, while you gaze out on the lake.
Spend your days swimming at the beach or in the swimming pool, or simply exploring the island at your own leisure.
You could also occupy your time by engaging in a host of outdoor activities, including snorkelling, scuba-diving and sailing at the full watersports centre, or mountain biking on one of the local trails.
Day trips into Mozambique and visits to local communities can be arranged, giving you the opportunity to experience African culture and the various community projects Kaya Mawa supports. Guided village and cathedral tours are also available.
Kaya Mawa Lodge is situated on the southern tip of Likoma Island, Malawi, in the north-east corner of Lake Malawi.
