Makalolo Plains
Makalolo Plains is situated in a remote area within the vast Hwange National Park – one of the few camps built within its boundaries.
Hwange is legendary for its wonderful array of wildlife and massive herds of elephant and buffalo – especially in the drier winter months. Summer sees the large antelope herds migrate onto the open grasslands in the area, closely followed by their predators.
The camp itself is set in a unique location, overlooking the Samavundhla Pan that attracts game in good concentrations. The entire Makalolo Plains is raised onto wooden boardwalks and platforms, giving guests excellent views over the waterhole and floodplain in front of the camp.
There is also a relaxed lounge, pub, plunge pool and an open fire area for those evening fireside bush tales.
As Makalolo Plains is within Hwange National Park itself, your game viewing starts right at your doorstep. Game drives in 4×4 Land Rovers and walks with an armed guide are all part of the experience.
