Serena Mountain Lodge
Situated in the Mount Kenya National Park, Serena Mountain Lodge offers great game viewing from the privacy of your room, as game flock to the nearby waterhole.
the lodge is surrounded by a dense rainforest that comes alive with the sounds of the wild, while the rocky peaks of Mount Kenya overlook its abundant game. Elephant, buffalo, rhino and waterbuck are regular sights at the 42-roomed lodge.
The lodge is ideally situated as a base for those who want to climb Mount Kenya. For the daring and sporty, hikes to the top of Mount Kenya, accompanied by an experienced mountain guide and porters, can be arranged.
Arrangements for forest walks can be made with on-foot sightings of game and birdlife. A viewing bunker that’s connected to the lodge by a short tunnel allows you to get up close to the animals that feed at the watering hole.
Guest services and amenities at the Serena Mountain Lodge include individually tailored forest trails, moorland hikes and mountain climbs, post mountain-climbing herbal massages, beauty treatments, all-weather airstrip, range of board games and a library.
The lodge also offers activities and entertainment such as trout fishing, a lamp-lit safari-dinner ‘under canvas’ and safari tea in a forest glade while following the paths of the Rainforest Nature Trail in the company of the resident naturalist.
You can also enjoy walking in the forest (accompanied by resident naturalist), a 20km hike through the bamboo-covered slopes of Mount Kenya, and game-spotting and wildlife observation by the waterhole and salt lick.
