Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge
The Volcanoes Lodge overlooks the magnificent Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to gorillas, monkeys, chimpanzees and birds. This pocket of primeval forest is one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth and has been designated a World Heritage Site.
Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has 4 habituated gorilla families. The gorillas live in thick tropical forest and tracking is quite challenging as the hillsides are steep, but the rewards are great.
Other activities include nature walks in search of the birds, monkeys and orchids. Alternatively you can go for short strolls around the lodge and explore the village.
Volcanoes Bwindi is built and run on ecological principles. Using local materials, natural energy sources such as solar power and controlling water consumption reduces the negative impact on the environment.
The camp has a natural, warm and welcoming air and your needs are looked after by carefully trained staff recruited from local communities. After a day’s tracking you can have a well-deserved massage or buy a souvenir in the lodge gift shop.
