Luambe National Park

This beautiful park is found between the North and South Luangwa Parks on the east bank of the Luangwa River in Zambia. The atmosphere is remote due perhaps to the lack of tourists and safari operations. It is a small, hot park of great vegetative beauty but little game due to the intense hunting around the area in the past.

Although there are buffalo, elephant, hippopotamus, impala, roan, eland, bushpig and lion still found in the park. Many smaller animals also live here and the bird population is still strong.

The vegetation is still in good shape, and it is suggested that if the area is left alone for a few years, animals will return. There are private investors looking at re-establishing it, so perhaps the park will regain some of its former glory in the future.
