7 Day Victoria Falls & Luangwa
Day 1-2: A Victoria Falls Safari
The grand Royal Livingstone Hotel is so close to Victoria Falls that if you visit when the Zambezi River is in full flood you can feel the spray of the falls from the hotel lawns. Getting to the falls is easy too, just wander down the private footpath – perfect for photography enthusiasts who want to visit and take photos of the falls at different times of day.
There are so many activities on offer in and around this area. You can cruise the Zambezi (keeping an eye out for elephant on the riverbank), take to the skies on a scenic helicopter or microlight flight, go canoeing or white-water rafting, set out on an elephant-back safari or take a dip in the Devil’s Pool.
Between all these activities we’d recommend setting aside enough time for a massage in one of the hotel’s tented gazebos right on the riverbank. And the riverside deck is the best place to watch the sunset, drink in hand, while hippos grunt in the water below.

Day 3-6: Big Game Safari in the Wild South Luangwa
From Victoria Falls you’re transferred to Livingstone Airport for your flight to Mfuwe (included in the cost) and the start of your safari. Zambia’s South Luangwa is famous for its concentration of big game. All the favourites are here in healthy numbers – lion, elephant, hippo, giraffe, buffalo and wild dog – and this is also one of the best places in Africa to see leopard!
Sanctuary Puku Ridge is a small and welcoming camp with just seven tents built up on a hillside. Each tent opens onto its own viewing deck which overlooks floodplains where elephant, zebra and puku antelope are regularly seen. Tents are spacious with both en-suite bathrooms and outdoor showers.
Twice-daily game drives take you deep into this wild reserve, and we’d also highly recommend a morning walking safari. The Puku Ridge guides are excellent and, along with thrilling big game sightings, you’re likely to come away with a new appreciation for birds (over 400 bird species have been recorded to date).

Day 7: Back to Lusaka for Your Flight Home
After a final breakfast out on the deck, you’re transferred to Mfuwe Airport – about a 2-hour road transfer with some game viewing en route. From Mfuwe it’s a 1-hour flight to Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka (included in the cost) for your onward travel arrangements.
