The giraffe is a mammal of the family Giraffidae, along with its close relatives the okapi and the extinct Saiga antelope. The giraffe is distinguished by its long neck and legs, as well as its horns.
The giraffe is the tallest living terrestrial animal. Males can reach up to 5.5 m (18 ft) tall, while females can reach up to 4.5 m (15 ft). The tallest recorded giraffe was 5.87 m (19.2 ft) tall.
